Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
CrayonInk turns photos you upload into printable coloring pages, line art, outlines and coloring book PDFs. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
Short version
- Your photo stays in your browser until you click Generate.
- After you click Generate, the photo is uploaded to us. Coloring pages and line art are drawn by our AI provider, fal.ai, which receives the photo and processes it under its own terms. We send it with fal's request storage turned off. Outlines are traced on our own servers and are never sent to an AI provider.
- We delete the photo from our storage right after the page is ready — 24 hours at most, even if something goes wrong.
- Your pages and coloring book PDFs are deleted after 7 days, or immediately when you click Delete now.
- There is no public gallery. Your pages are only reachable from your account or the browser that made them.
- We don't do face recognition and we don't sell your data.
What we collect
- Photos you choose to generate from. Before upload, your browser resizes the photo and re-encodes it as a JPEG, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS location. (Our upload API also accepts PNG and WebP files sent directly; those are stored as sent.)
- Generated results (PNG pages and PDFs) and the settings you chose (mode, detail, paper size).
- Your Google account basics (email address, name and profile picture) when you sign in with Google, so we can keep your pages and page balance with your account.
- An anonymous identifier stored in a cookie, so we can show you files made before you signed in and count free outlines.
- A hashed version of your IP address, used only to enforce limits and prevent abuse (for example, of free page allowances). We do not store your raw IP address with your files.
- Technical records about each job (time, status, which generation provider handled it and its request ID, error messages) so we can fix problems and return pages to your balance when a job fails. These records contain no images.
Photos of children
Many people use CrayonInk with photos of their own children. The service is meant for adults: you must be 18 or older, and you may only upload photos of children if you are their parent or legal guardian or have that person's permission. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because these photos are sensitive, we keep them for as short a time as possible (see retention below), never show them publicly, and never use them as examples on the site.
Faces
We do not run face recognition. We do not extract, store or compare facial features, face templates or face vectors.
How long we keep things
- Original photos in our storage: deleted right after your page is generated. Photos from jobs that fail or are abandoned are deleted by an automatic cleanup within 24 hours.
- At our AI provider (fal.ai): by default fal keeps each request's input and output in its request history for 30 days. We send every request with fal's option to not store request data, and after each request our server checks fal's request history to confirm the photo isn't there (and asks fal to delete it if it is). fal still receives and processes your photo, and handles it as described in its own privacy policy and terms, which may allow it to use de-identified or aggregated data to improve its services.
- Pages (PNG / PDF): 7 days, then deleted automatically.
- Coloring book PDFs: 7 days, then deleted automatically.
- Job records without images: kept for operations, abuse prevention and accounting.
You can delete any page or book right away with the Delete now button on the result, or delete everything from My files. Delete now removes the stored files from our storage immediately; it can't reach copies held by fal under its own terms.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers, named here by category:
- Cloud hosting and storage (Cloudflare Workers, D1, R2 and Queues) to run the site and temporarily store files.
- fal.ai (Features & Labels Inc.), our AI image provider, which receives your photo and instructions for coloring pages and line art and returns the drawing. It processes data under its own terms and privacy policy, which may allow it to use de-identified or aggregated data to improve its services. Outlines are not sent to fal.
- Analytics (only if enabled): privacy-friendly page and event counts, and — only after you allow it — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Upload and result areas are masked in session recordings, and analytics events never include file names or images.
Sign-in uses Google (we receive your email address, name and profile picture). Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Cookies and local storage
- A sign-in session cookie when you sign in with Google.
- An anonymous ID cookie (to find files made before you signed in and count free outlines).
- Your analytics choice (allow / no thanks).
- Browser storage (IndexedDB and localStorage) holding your selected photo and coloring book draft on your own device, so they survive a page reload. Clear your browser data to remove them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its processing. Most of this you can do yourself with Delete now and My files. For anything else, contact us at support@crayonink.com.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top.
